Two questions usually settle where to start. What does your dog do too much of, and what does it not do enough of. A dog that eats too fast needs a slow feeder. A dog that will not settle often needs a better bed before it needs anything else.

• Dog beds: washable plush donut beds, orthopedic memory foam for older joints and raised mesh beds for dogs that overheat.
• Collars, leashes and harnesses: everyday collars, hands free and tactical leads, and no pull front clip harnesses with reflective panels for dark mornings.
• Feeding: slow feeder bowls and lick mats for dogs that inhale dinner, plus elevated bowls that take the strain off larger breeds.
• Dog toys: chews built for strong chewers, squeaky plush, fetch balls and flying discs, snuffle mats and treat dispensing puzzles.
• Grooming: deshedding brushes, dematting combs, nail grinders, bath brushes, cordless clippers and fur removers for the aftermath.
• Travel and hot weather: car seats and booster beds, carrier backpacks, travel water bottles, life jackets, paw boots, cooling mats, vests and pools.

A dog that chews the furniture rarely needs more exercise. It usually needs a tougher legal option and something to think about, and a puzzle toy will do more for that than another lap of the park. If you are buying for a puppy, size the bed and coat for the dog it will be in six months, but buy the collar to fit today.
