It is worth knowing which you are buying. A whippet or a chihuahua loses heat far faster than a husky, so a fleece genuinely helps. A dinosaur costume does not, which is rather the point.

• Warm layers: fleece dog hoodies with a hood and zip pocket, and fleece sweatshirts for short coated, small and senior dogs that shiver on winter walks.
• Light layers: cotton t shirts and plaid shirts for sun protection on thin coats and for covering a healing patch of skin.
• Paw wear: anti slip boots and mesh shoes for hot pavement, grit and road salt, plus breathable summer sandals.
• Costumes: a plush dinosaur skeleton, funny wigs for dogs and cats, a six piece wig set and a novelty muzzle with teeth, all for photos and nothing else.

Sizing is where most orders go wrong. Measure neck circumference, chest at the widest point behind the front legs, and back length from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. Chest decides the fit, not weight, and two dogs of identical weight can be two sizes apart. If your dog freezes and refuses to walk in something, take it off.
