Automatic Dog Ball Launcher with Three Tennis Balls

He drops the ball at your feet again. You have been throwing it since you sat down, and your shoulder is done long before he is. He does not want a walk. He wants another throw.

This automatic dog ball launcher does the throwing for you. He brings the ball back, drops it in the top, and it goes out again, which turns fetch into something he can run himself.

What keeps the game going:

• Self-loading play: teach him to return the ball to the funnel and the cycle carries on without you
• Three launch distances: 10, 20 or 30 ft, so it suits a hallway or a back yard
• Simple controls: switch between the distances quickly, without stopping the session
• Battery status indicator: a glance tells you how much power is left
• Type-C rechargeable: charge it from the same cable as everything else you own
• Built-in carry handle: lift it from the living room to the lawn and put it away just as easily

Start with plain fetch and a treat every time he brings the ball back. Once he has the return down, introduce the launcher. Drop, launch, chase, return, repeat. That is the whole routine.

The funnel is on top, the ball comes out the front, and the panel on the side holds everything else: the distance button, the indicator light and the charging port.

The drawing puts it at 8.5 in (21.5 cm) tall, which is small enough to leave on a shelf in the hall rather than drag out of a closet.

Three steps and that is the game. Ball into the funnel on top, one press to set the distance, then let him go after it and bring it back to the same place.

The arcs show what each setting looks like on the ground. The short one keeps the ball inside a hallway, the long one sends him down the length of the yard.

Getting the distance right

10 ft or 3 m is short-distance play for a hallway. 20 ft or 6 m is everyday fetch. 30 ft or 9 m gives him real room to run. Pick the one that matches the space you are in.
