Dematting Comb and Undercoat Rake for Dogs and Cats

A narrow comb is fine on a terrier. On a retriever, a shepherd or a long-coated cat it means going over the same patch of back again and again, and that's usually where the dog gets up and leaves. This one is built wide.

This dematting comb carries a double-sided head that's 6.7 inches across, so each stroke covers far more of a large dog than an ordinary comb does. One side works through mats and tangles, the other lifts loose undercoat, and a handle button releases the fur.

Why a wider head means fewer passes:

Press the button, drop the fur. When the teeth pack up, a button in the handle pushes the whole mat of collected hair off in one motion, so you aren't picking fur out tooth by tooth mid-session.

Rounded tips, not sharp ones. The teeth are nested and rounded at the ends, so the head sits flat on the coat and doesn't scrape the skin where the fur is thin.
