Dog Ear Muffs for Noise Protection

The first firework goes off and he's under the bed, shaking, and no amount of calling brings him out. You can't explain the noise to him. You can turn it down.

These dog ear muffs cover both ears in layered neoprene, so the crack of a firework reaches him as a dull thud instead of a bang.

How they fit and muffle:

• Layered neoprene cups: muffle sharp sounds from every direction, so the street is as covered as the window
• Gentle even pressure: snug but not tight, the same steady contact some dogs seek out under a blanket
• Open face: eyes, nose and mouth stay clear, so nothing blocks his breathing or his view
• Hook and loop chin strap: adjusts to the head, so it holds on a narrow muzzle and a broad one
• Nothing to charge or refill: no batteries and no drugs, so it's ready the next time

Quieter, and held in place. The cups cut the sharpness of the sound and the wrap adds steady, even pressure around the head, so the noise is dulled and the fit stays put at the same time.

Slide on, fasten, let him settle. Ease it over his head, tuck each ear into a cup, then fasten the chin strap. Introduce it in short calm sessions, so the night you need it isn't the first time.

Bath night and the groomer too. The same cups keep water out of the ears and take the edge off the clippers. Water-resistant rather than waterproof, and it rinses out by hand.

Getting the size right

Check the size chart and practice a few calm minutes before the next loud night, and he gets a quieter world while the noise lasts, with a routine already in place.
