Foldable Pet Pool with Floating Toys

A bowl of water is not interesting. A shallow pool with a clownfish drifting across it is a hunt, and she'll stay at the edge of it long after she would have walked away from a dish.

This foldable pet pool unfolds flat with no pump and no tools, holds water in a leakproof PVC basin, and gives cats and dogs somewhere shallow to paw, splash, bathe and cool off.

Five ways it gets used:

• Indoors or out: on a hot afternoon at home, in the yard, or on a camping trip
• Doubles as a tub: a bath for a dog who won't sit in the shower
• Floating toys: a few inches of water becomes a half-hour hunt
• Nothing to inflate: it's ready in the time it takes to fill
• Five sizes: from a cat-sized paddling tub up to a large breed

The sea creatures are soft rubber, so they squeak when bitten and they sit upright on the surface, drifting away whenever a paw disturbs the water.

That drift is what keeps a cat coming back. The toy moves on its own, out of reach, the way live prey does. Empty, the pool still works as a plain bathing or cooling basin for a dog.

The walls are stiffened folding panels rather than inflatable tubes, so the pool holds its own shape the moment you open it out.

To pack up, tip it to one side and let the water run out over the low edge, then wipe it dry and fold the panels flat.

Folded, it goes into a carry bag or a backpack, which is what makes it worth taking camping instead of leaving in the shed.

It works indoors just as well. Set it down on a hard floor on a hot afternoon and the hunt happens in the living room.

Getting the size right

Five sizes are available, XS through XL. Choose by your pet's body length and how deep you want the water to sit.
